Using a New Technique

I was looking at some Black Magic paper (paper that is black on one side, and another color like bright red on the other side) I had purchased at Joann carfts the other day, I realized it said sand, tear or rip on it. So I cut out a heart shaped card using the wild card cartridge, and than ran it thorugh the texture boutique, to add a swirl texture to it.

I than used a piece of sand paper, and started sanding. There it was the red from the back of the paper showing through.

I will be using this techique more often, it will be intresting to see what other color combinations while at the craft store.

Non-Traditional Valentine

Here is the two cards are made in response to another challenge on the cricut.com messageboard.  The challenge was to make non traditional valentine cards, without using pink, red or purple.

This Weeks Ad Challenge

This weeks Ad challenge from Jade on cricut.com, Jade finds an ad and posts the picture from the ad, and your suppose to use it for inspiration to make a papercraft project.

I am really enjoy doing these challenges, it brings a whole new aspect to my paper craftng.  It is very different to make a card or page for no-one specific.  In a way it is very freeing and in another way can make it very hard.  This card was more diffficult and I don't feel it is my best one.

I entered a papercrafting contest this week through the Cricut site.  I decided to create a chip board book with reciepes for a quick and easy chinese meal.  I did not win but it was extremely fun to build my project.  If you would like to see all the entries check them out here: Cropping with the stars

Christmas 2009

This Christmas I decided to make a couple items for gifts and really enjoyed scouring the craft stores on a regular bases for ideas and projects to do as gifts.  I made two calendars one for my father in law and one for my mother (shhhh... she has not gotten hers yet).  Here are some pictures of my moms.

Jump to 2009

So now two years later I have been scrapbooking more and more, from Elizabeths baby book, to documenting a trip to Disneyland with my friend Sara last year.

I spent many an evening between our house and my friend JoAnn's scrapbooking late into the night or even early into the next morning.

For my birthday in October Rich, my parents and Grandparents all gave me money toward getting a Cricut Expression.

My friend JoAnn has had one since sometime last summer, and she graciously has allowed me to use it.  I got hooked on it though and would be at a stand still waiting to use it again.  I have to say I think it has been the best investment I have made in quite a while. There is rarely a day that goes by that I do not use to create something for scrapbooking, work or just because I can.

Also making this a great birthday present were my siblings (David & Angie, and Michael) who all sent me very generous gift cards to Joann Crafts were I was able to pick out some very cool cartridges for my cricut.

The next big project

In July of 2007 my friend from High school Amber starting blogging about being pregnant with her first child.  I found her blog so fun to read, and with great daily life stories that I thought it would be fun to take her blog and create a scrapbook of it for her child to have as a memory.

Aurora was born April 18 2008, I set out to keep up with her blog for the first month and than sent it to Amber.  I realized shortly after sending it that I had never taken any photographs of my work.  Amber was gracious enough to photograph some of her favorite pages.

How it all started

I have always enjoyed doing crafts, but it all came to a new level when my borther David got engaged to his now wife Angie.  I decided I would like to create them a book showing times since they had met in college., and have pages for them to add some wedding photos.  I complete this project in June 2007 just in time for their wedding.

After returning from their wedding I began doing the same kind of book for my great friend Tiana and her to be husband Tom.  I have since done a baby book for their daughter Elizabeth.
